2012 – My year in Clay
This year I spent exploring nursery rhymes, myths, legends and proverbs my mother imparted to me. I have also included in this series, current issues that concern me. I have expressed my version of these stories through the medium of clay to produce sculptural pieces or by carving and painting on thrown plates.
By re-visiting, re-thinking, and re-telling the stories and wives tales of old I realize that symbolism and narrative is still a rich part of our culture. They are as relevant today as when the tales were first told.
