What art means to me:
“I paint the way some people write their autobiography. The paintings, finished or not, are the pages from my diary.”
-Pablo Picasso
Although I classify myself as a printmaker this quote has always stayed in my mind as the perfect description of what art means to me.
Constantly drawing inspiration from my own experiences, memories and relationships, each piece has been created through intuitive means. While I often start out with a general idea of composition and subject matter, It is my mood which influences where the artwork goes in terms of medium, application, style and atmosphere.
Many of my works also portray the intimate play between light and shadow and often employ a ‘window of light’ which frames the work.
